Today we received news of an upcoming Indie title exclusive to the Nintendo Wii’s WiiWare download service by the name of Jam City Rollergirls. The game is a fast paced arcade game, were you’ll fight, skate and use your teammates to win a rollerskating race. That’s just the simple description, let’s take a closer look.
Jam City Rollergirls, is a throwback to the rollerblading competitions from back in the day. From just watching the trailer and reading the provided press release information, it almost seems like another one of our favorite retro games “Road Rash” but just in human form instead of a motorcycle. Of course this is just our initial point of view and hope to get a full review up for you soon.
The game has been in development for about a year now and is finally in the home stretch for a January 24th launch.
The president for Frozen Codebase, Ben Geisler goes on and explains his thoughts about choosing the WiiWare service for this title, simply put, the team wanted to make a quick pick up and play game of a kart racing game but having a more arcade feel by adding power ups to the action.
This project really couldn’t have been done without the involvement of great skaters like “Bloody Mary” and “Suzy Hotrod.” They are making a new sport and we are making a new type of game, and we’re glad that they were so enthusiastically helpful.
