In today’s Retro G.P. we play through about fifteen minutes of Kill Switch for the original Xbox but played through the Xbox 360. The game play was ahead of it’s time and for something that is found commonly in today’s games, Kill Switch is easily a lost and under appreciated gem. Let’s peek at the game play that has been tweaked and used in many titles in this generation of consoles.
I remember when Gears of War came out. Many people were blown away by the cover based game play and how the mainstream industry glorified the game play as original and ground breaking, not giving credit to the classic games that brought the use of cover and shoot game play.
Though if I dig deep enough I can go back to the 2D days of Blackthorne on the Genesis 32X, SNES and computer systems. Truth be told, I can see real similarities to the Kill Switch game play in Gears Of War.
What say you? Let us know if you know of any other classic game that the game play focused on running from cover to cover while aiming and blind firing around corners.
Keep It Retro..!
