Just Game Play Featuring Iron Soldier On The Atari Jaguar

It’s been a while since we hooked up one of our favorite and under appreciated consoles, the Atari Jaguar..! Though the argument can be had whether or not the Jaguar was indeed a true 64-Bit console, the truth of the matter to us is, who cares? The Jaguar had a handful of must have titles and if developers put the time, effort and money behind the very capable console we might of seen more multi-platform titles land on the last ever made Atari home gaming console.

Iron Soldier is a great example of the Atari Jaguar handling true 3D polygons plus rendering 2D explosions and special effects on the fly in real time but not forgetting to point out the kick ass CD quality soundtrack. Today’s Just Game Play video will showcase the first mission and only offer a glimpse of some of the incredible capabilities of a console that with the proper effort could of been a competitor to the PS1 when it launched. (Our own personal feelings not factual.)

One more feature that stands out for us here at OSJ was the level of customization you had in Iron Soldier. Before every mission you were able to add and place what ever weapons you found in your previous mission. Once you’ve collected a few items you could then place them in specific places on your Iron Soldier. This was one of the few instances where having the keypad was great for switching between the huge amount of weapons at your disposal.

Sit back relax and enjoy this retro video game play video and always Keep It Retro..!
